Sports

I come from a family of sports fanatics both in terms of playing and following it. Being Sri Lankan, my first love first was naturally cricket—I remember staying up late to watch Sri Lanka play at 4 years of age and playing with my father at age 6. I eventually captained my school B-team when I was 12. After that I never played serious cricket, although I ocassionally play tennis-ball-cricket with my friends. I think it goes without saying that I'm a supporter of the Sri Lanka national cricket team.

I was also a sprinter in school times, peaking on the 100m and 200m with times of 12.95 s and 27.90 s when I was 14 years old. I was a semi-finalist at the national level and a finalist at the provincial and district level in both events. I never miss the Olympics or the World Championships and occassionally keep in touch with the Diamond League.

I've also supported Manchester United ever since I first saw Ruud van Nistelrooy play for them when I was 8. For the last couple of years, I've been having great fun following the Golden State Warriors, and to be honest, Basketball is the only American sport I really like.
